Rural health project Inaugurated on November 21, 2014 in presence of HFN Board member Dr. Khagendra Dahal. This projects aims to promote health status of people living in rural communities. The project was started with a-two day fee health camp in Saudiyar at HFN's local office and Laxmipur VDC office.
Patient check ups at the camps were conducted by doctors Dr. Khagendra Dahal, Dr. Yadav Pandey, and Dr. Arbind Bhusal.
Since the start, the clinic runs regularly until now with static clinic at our HFN office in Saundiyar once a week and to an outreach satellite clinic in more rural area once a month. We provide all the available medicine free of cost to the needy patients.
Currently, we are running both static and satellite outreach clinic : Static clinic :Clinic site – In HFN office at Saudiyar-1, Dang Healthcare Provider – Health assistant Mukul and sister Poornima (if she is not busy in the field) – 6 days a week from 10 am to 5 pm Doctor – Dr. Yadav Pandey – twice a week (Tuesday and Friday) – 10 am to 3 pm Number of patients – 12 to 15/day Service – free health check-up, Medicine free of cost, emergency and first aid care depending on the case. Our clinic is almost equivalent to a Primary health care centre.
Satellite outreach clinic : Our satellite clinics are run in more remote villages once a month. Clinic site – Laxmipur VDC – currently in Ranghara and Sunpur villages. We are planning to expand. Provider – same as static clinic And service is also same as static clinic
School Health program AIM: Educate the children so that they will teach their parents and society. One event till now: Aim – targeting the more primary cause of malnutrition; increasing awareness among school children about Malnutrition. Date – March 17th, 2017 Program – Oral health screening along with tooth extraction and filling by our Dental surgeon, Narayan Pokhrel. We screened about 100 children and 15 children needed extraction and filling. Health education session in a class of 80 students – School – Shree Mabi, Jajaragaun School, Saudiyar -1 Topic- Nutrition – types of nutrients, sources, importance of balance diet Malnutrition – cause, sign and symptoms, prevention and treatment and school children’s role in society to prevent malnutrition Methods – both traditional - using meta-cards and charts and modern - using projector Contributor – Dr. Yadav Pandey, Poornima Paudel and Mukul Kuwar Anthropometric measurement of 20 under-5 children in the same school. Long term plan is to expand the program to other schools.
